Things are Hopping at WAW!

Latest News from WAW

Business is great but we’re always looking for more!

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has granted Mott Williamson the right to use the specialization designation of Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV).  The AICPA awards this designation exclusively to CPAs who have considerable experience in business valuation, and who have also demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience by earning the credential.  Customers should rely on individuals qualified to provide competent advice and service in the business valuation area.  When an ABV is selected, the public can expect an experienced professional who can provide competent valuation services.  ABV credential holders provide evidence of substantial experience and competence in providing business valuation services.  Business valuation services are defined as sufficent research and analysis to arrive at a conclusion or estimate of value of an entity, intrument, or economic benefit, requiring a documented conclusion.  The credential holder also must pass a comprehensive written ABV examination administered nationally by the AICPA.

Chris Mackey (and three other guys) recently won the Permian Basin Society of CPAs Scramble Golf Tournament held in Andrews, Texas. Chris's team shot a 58 (par 70). He wears the shirt he won every day. Most other team members wish he would take it off occasionally.

Mott Williamson CPA and Jim Ware CPA continue to build their expertise with ongoing business valuation and divorce valuation engagements. They help you discover the best ways to improve the value of your business for credit purposes or eventual sale, or depress its value for estate or gift purposes. They also help you determine the price you should pay to acquire another business.

WAW University has held four separate sessions. The first was titled "The Tax Shelter You've Never Heard Of," and the second "How to Buy What You Want, and Get the IRS to Pay for It," the third session "Top Ten Errors People Make with Their Estate Plans, and What You Can Do About It" and the fourth titled "New 2001 Tax Law." Private lessons are available, too, if you don't like attending small group meetings.

Debbie Clary, EA, Chris Mackey CPA, and Leah Gilbreath are now offering QuickBooks software training classes to clients and nonclients alike. Contact us today to reserve a place at the next seminar.
